Alumni Highlights

This month's Alumni Spotlight shines on Amrat Chugani, Alumnus of our Civics and Citizenship program at T.C. Williams High School.

Amrat is a 2019 Graduate from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, receiving his Bachelors in Aeronautical Science with a minor in Aviation Business Management. He is also a licensed commercial pilot.

Read what he had to say below:

"LP really helped me come out of my shell, I used to be very reserved in high school and through LP I managed to engage with the community and really learn more about myself. My favorite memory from LP was when we went to a place in the DC area to package food for the less fortunate. I am thankful for my program officer, Pam Daley, and my program facilitator, George Towery. The two of them were the best part of my LP experience. They brightened up my day and were always there when I needed help.

"My advice to others would be not to worry when things don’t go your way. The most important thing is that you find something you love and follow that path. If you haven’t found something yet don’t worry. It took me two years in the army to finally figure out that my passion was aviation. You’ll find your calling eventually. Until you do, I encourage you to do well in school and make connections. LP really helped me open up and become who I am today. I am also thankful for the support of my family.

Additionally, if there is anyone who wants advice or mentorship regarding aviation, I'd love to help! When I started my educational career, I didn't know anyone in aviation, I had to do my own research and forge my own way. I want to impart the knowledge and wisdom I've learned to help and support others."

Thank You LP Alumni

As many of you may know, this Giving Tuesday we tripled our target and raised more than $6,500. This is enough to support 3 program facilitators, fund 5 internships, or run 2 LP sessions!

A huge part of our success was due to the incredible support we received from you! Not only did LP Alumni make up 25% of our support on the day, but you also amplified our voice. You re-tweeted, shared, and liked our social media posts again and again and made the DMV notice us!

From everyone at LP, thank you!
